Support to Water Quality Management

  • Launched a photo contest dubbed as “Kontribusyon Ko Para sa Malinis na Tubig’ in support of the World Water Day Celebration last March 22, 2013
  • Coordinated and initiated EMB’s participation  in the  International Coastal Clean-Up  last September 21,  2013 at the LLPPCEA, Manila
  • Coordinated the EMB participation World Water Day celebration with the theme “Walks for Water” at  SM Mall of Asia last March 22, 2013, with an exhibit
  • Prepared a write-up on the status of water quality in the Philippines for the speech of DENR Secretary for Earth Day
  • Designed a cover for the Integrated Water Quality Management Framework Manual
  • Laid-out  the Manila Bay 2013 calendar
  • Facilitated and hosted the Metro Manila Third Sewerage Project Workshop on the Policies on Sewerage and Treatment in the Philippines and Updated MWSS Master Plan 2013

Under the Adopt-an-Estero/Water Body Program

  • Conducted  the Metro Manila Partners Forum under the Adopt-an-Estero/Water Body Program last September 26-27, 2017 at the Bayleaf Hotel, Manila
  • Assisted in the preparations for the “Setting IEC Directions for the Adopt-an-Estero/Water Body Program” for the Harmonization Workshop on Adopt-an-Estero on March 23-26, 2013 in Coron, Palawan
  • Organized an Orchestrated Clean Up of the Marikina River and its 8 creeks, Tullahan River and Diliman Creek in support of World Water Day
  • Conducted a Lakbayan sa Tubig in cooperation with the Manila Water Company Inc. last April 18, 2013 for the barangays of the Diliman Creek in Support of Earth Day
  • Conducted a Lakbayan sa Tubig in cooperation with the Manila Water Company Incorporated Last June 6, 2013, in support to World Environmental Day among the barangays of the Diliman Creek, Tullahan River, Marikina River and San Juan River
  • Conducted the Lakbayan sa Tubig with Manila Water Company, Inc. for National Service Training Program Coordinators of selected universities in Metro Manila, in support of the Adopt-an Estero/Water Body Program for World Water Day
  • Initiated the conduct of  regular monthly orchestrated clean-up in the following water bodies for the Adopt-an-Estero/Water Body Program: Diliman Creek, Tullahan River, San Juan River, Marikina River
  • Prepared exhibit materials for the Adopt-an-Estero/Water body Program
  • Initiated partnership on the Adopt-an-Estero Program with GMA 7 and BPI Makati
  • Facilitated the production of the Video for  the Adopt-An-Estero/ Water Body Program
  • Initiated partnership with the De La Salle University-Jesse Robrero Institute of Governance  together with the Florida State University-institute of Homeland Security on the Community Mobilization Programs for the  Adopt-an-Estero/Water Body Program

Support to Solid Waste Management Concerns  

  • Prepared a write-up on the status of solid waste management in the Philippines for the speech of President Benigno Aquino III for Earth Day
  • Initiated with the Bureau of Jail and Penology in the development of an Eco-jails Program in the various jails nationwide
  • Coordinated with DENR PAO and PIA regarding the series on videos on solid waste management for President Benigno Aquino
  • Initiated partnership with YSDA on solid waste management to development solid wastes management projects for schools
  • Conducted a lecture together with Toyota on Solid Waste Management among elementary students in Sta. Rosa, Laguna
  • Reviewed and provided inputs in the solid waste management module being developed by Toyota Motors Inc. for Elementary Students
  • Prepared the 2014 EMB Instructional Calendar “Solid Waste Management Initiatives: Securing Cleaner and Greener School”

Under the National Eco-Savers Program 

  • Assisted in the National Eco-savers Orientation for about 100 Department of Education supervisors and National Greening Program coordinators in Metro Manila last March 2013
  • Assisted in the conduct of thee National Eco-savers Program Logical Framework Workshop held last April 18-19, 2013 at the DENR Social Hall
  • Designed the green bags for the National Eco-savers Program for dissemination to pilot schools nationwide
  • Provide assistance as Technical Working Group Member in the drafting of the guidelines and in the regular meetings of the National Eco-Savers Program

Support to Air Quality Management Concerns

  • Organized  the conduct of the 5th Annual Clean Air Forum last July 11-12, 2013 at Richmonde Hotel
  • Assisted in the conduct of the Clean Air Concert last November 21, 2013 at the Trinoma Activity Center
  • Reviewed and provided inputs in the finalization of 45 and 60-seconder music video, Halina Sama-sama Tayo para sa Malinis na Hangin”, produced by Dmitri Productions
  • Printed the 2013 EMB Instructional Calendar with the theme “Usok Linisin , Buhay Sagipin”.
  • Initiated the bus rear advertising Clean Air campaign (on 8 buses for 8 months, for the route from Fairview to Pasay) using artwork of winning entries of high school students in “Usok Linisin , Buhay Sagipin” painting contest in Metro Manila
  • Prepared and initiated lay-out of streamers on “Sasakyan Ikondisyon, Para Iwas Polusyon- Panuntunan sa Panghuhuli para sa mga Smoke Belching na Sasakyan sa Kalsada” for Metro Manila Bus and Jeepney Terminals to heighten awareness on air pollution from motor vehicle smoke emission
  • Assisted the finalization of Anti-Smoke Belching Guidelines for Roadside Apprehension with EMB-AQMS, MMDA, LTO and MMASBA
  • Finalized review of the information editing and layout of  the 2010-2011 National Air Quality Status Report

Support to Chemicals Management Program

  • Reviewed the outputs for the Information and Education Component of the  Integrated POPs Management  Program
  • Coordinated the issuance of Agency circulars to the Department of Education, Commission on Higher Education, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and the Department of Interior and Local Governments, urging their constituencies to support the observance of the International Lead Poisoning Week on October 20-26, 2013
  • Disseminated among various stakeholders the Lead Poisoning PowerPoint Presentation

Support to the Pollution Adjudication Board Program

  • Assisted in the editing and layout of 2008-2012 Pollution Adjudication Board Performance Report

  • Conducted in coordination with the EU-SWITCH Asia a the Three-day Environmental Assessors Training  at Cocoon Boutique Hotel last July 2-4, 2013

  • Conducted the 2013 National Search for Sustainable and Eco-friendly Schools
  • Conducted field validation of all shortlisted finalists in the elementary, high school and college categories
  • Initiated signing of a Memorandum of Agreement Meeting with One Meralco Foundation held last September 4, 2013 at the Meralco Lighthouse Restaurant in Pasig City
  • Interviewed by Solar Television regarding the 2013 National Search for Sustainable Schools last March 19, 2013
  • Conducted the awarding ceremonies for all national winners of the Search last November 20, 2013 at the SM North EDSA, Activity Center
  • Printed the booklet of good practices of the 2013 National Search for Sustainable and Eco-friendly Schools –The Champions
  • Provided support in the conduct of various regional awarding ceremonies and activities related to the Search

  • Assisted the conduct of a One-Day Environmental Educators’ Forum together with EMB-NCR held last August 30, 2013
  • Conducted and ffacilitated the Round Table Discussion on Genetic Resource Development as Wealth Creation Strategy for Poverty Alleviation together with the United Nations Development Programme held last May 24, 2013 at the One Pacific Place in Makati City
  • Conducted series of Meetings of the National Inter-Agency Steering Committee on Environmental Education
  • Assisted and participated in the Earth Day Celebration attended by about 50 participants from the EMB held last April 22, 2013 at the Quezon City Memorial Circle along with attendees from various sectors

  • Conducted Assessment-Planning Workshop on Gender and Development (GAD) Concerns to EMB Plans, Programs and Projects and Training on Results-Based Monitoring and Evaluation for GAD Focal Persons of EMB Regional Offices at the Eurotel, Quezon City on January 22-23, 2013.
  • Conducted Seminar on “Pangangalaga ng Kapaligiran at Negosyo: Maaari bang Pagsabayin?” held at the Grand Ficus Resort and Restaurant, Ninoy Aquino Avenue, Kidapawan City on March 6-7, 2013.
  • Conducted Training on Gender-Responsive Results-Based Program Monitoring and Evaluation on April 15-16, 2013 held at Twin Towers, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City. Participants are GAD focal points persons of different divisions, sections, units of EMB Central Office.
  • Conducted Training of Technical Advisers on Gender Analysis on Environmental Programs for EMB Regional Offices held in Davao City on May 7-10, 2013. Participants were GAD focal point persons and technical staff of regional offices
  • Supported EMB NCR on the conduct of two Seminars on Gender and Environmental Management for EMB NCR employees.
  • Provided assistance on the conduct of Forum of Women Leaders in Biodiversity Conservation held on April 17, 2013 at the DENR Social Hall. Coordinated with EMB Regional Office and Municipality of Bula on the conduct of video documentation of bamboo industry
  • Supported PCW and PAWB on the Gender Responsive Ecotourism Toolkit of PAWB GREAT Women Project held February 8, 2013 at the Hotel Rembrandt, Quezon City
  • Provided inputs during the Validation Workshop of Guide and Competency Assessment Tools of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. Reviewed the following Module on Gender-Sensitivity in the Workplace, Demonstrating Work and Entrepreneurial Values and Practicing Occupational Health and Safety Procedures
  • Developed Gender and Development Checklist in Assessment on Project Management, Project identification, and Monitoring and Evaluation of Environmental Management Programs, Project and Activities
  • Reviewed and provided inputs to the EMB Regional Gender and Development (GAD) Plans and Budgets for submission to the Philippine on Women
  • Finalized the 2013 revised work and financial plan 2013 of the EMB GREAT Women Project for approval of the Philippine Commission on Women and for the issuance of the second tranche.
  • Provided inputs/submitted to PCW matrix of EMB’s stocktaking sustainability measures, sustainability initiatives, quality of Women Economic Empowerment policy, quality of WEE programs, projects and activities and lessons learned session of the EMB GREAT Women Project
  • Provided assistance on the Learning Session on Women Economic Empowerment for PCW staff and other national government agencies held Sept. 6, 2013
  • Provided data of EMB gender and development related activities required during the Civil Service Commission assessment

  • Provided continuous support in the regular health and wellness program of the EMB employees

Under the Youth Program

  • Provided support to the attendance of youth delegations and in their mentoring to the following seminars/trainings: 1) 2013 South East Asian Youth Environment Network (SEAYEN) Meeting in Bali, Indonesia; 2) ASEAN Youth Workshop on Green Consumption in Bangkok, Thailand; 3) China-ASEAN Youth Seminar on Green Schools in Beijing, China; amd 4) ASEAN+3 Youth Environment Forum in Brunei.
  • Provided support to the DENR National Youth Environment Summer Camp Seminar in Baguio City last April 6-7, 2013
  • Provided support to the Philippine Youth Environment Network, Department of Education  and the National Youth Commission in the conduct of the Äward ng mga Eco-Filipino Event: Kabataan Para sa Kalikasan last June 28, 2013 at SM North EDSA

  • Mobilized the Marikina River Clean-up last October 6, 2012 in support of the International Coastal Clean-up Weekend
  • Conducted a two-day Partners’ Forum For the Metro Manila Water Bodies Under the Adopt-an Estero/ Water Body Program last September 27-28, 2012 at the Hotel Rembrandt in Quezon City

Support to Clean Air Initiatives
  • Conducted a Baga’t-Hangin Musikahan 2007 as an Earth Day celebration last 22 April 2007. This was a musical variety program, with theme, Clean Air and Good Health, that featured educational inserts on biofuels, emission testing, national chlorofluorocarbon phase-out projects, smoking cessation program, healthy lifestyle environment-friendly food preparations, free medical services, on-the-spot poster making contest for high schoolers, with a concert of selected musical bands
  • Catalyzed the release by Dept. of Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno, its Memorandum Circular No. 2007-131, issued last October 2, 2007, urging the active participation of all City Mayors, Municipal Mayors, DILG Regional Directors and others concerned, to launch the Linis Hangin sa Siyudad/Munisipyo this November as Clean Air Month. Under the Program, local Chief Executives are encouraged to issue resolutions or enact ordinances on air policies in their local development plans; conduct information campaigns on the value of smoke-free communities; and encourage community leaders, civic religious organizations; and school institutions to actively support the campaign against air pollution in their localities.
  • The EMB-DENR initiated Bantay Tambutso sa Eskwela is on its higher gear this year as school networks in the names of the Philippine Association of Tertiary Level Educational Institution in Environmental Protection and Management (PATLEPAM), and the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP), with the Clean Air Youth Alliance vowed to participate in the nationwide orchestrated ban on the entry of smoke-belching vehicles in school campuses on November 16, 2007, with other schools for clean air initiatives.
  • Initiated the conduct of Hangin’ Around: Schools Act for Cleaner Air last November 23, 2007 at the University of Sto. Tomas Tan Yan Kee Student Center, with about 180 participating teachers, youth leaders and students from Metro Manila, Laguna and the Cordilleras.

  • Developed a tagline on the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD) and uploaded in the EMB website, and for inclusion in various EMB publications, at the central and regional offices, and the various member-institutions of the PCSD Sub-Committee on Information and Education
  • Included topic on the UNDESD and Moving the Tertiary Education Sector for the DESD for the Senior Educators’ Annual National Conference (September 29-30, 2004), with Ambassador Preciosa Soliven, UNESCO Secretary-General for the Philippines, as one of the speakers. Regional Action Plans on Tertiary Environmental Education for Sustainable Development for 2005-2014 were likewise drawn up with universities and colleges nationwide.

  • Lobbied for the designation of the DENR as the National Authority for Clean Development Mechanism
  • Formulated the Draft Implementing Rules and Regulations for the National Approval Process of the Clean Development Mechanism – National Authority
  • Philippines was designated by the UNFCCC Secretariat and the Conference of Parties as co-chair of the contact group on Non-Annex 1 Countries’ National Communication, negotiating the submission of the second national communication and where appropriate, third national communication
  • Negotiated the nomination of the Philippine expert to the “Consultative Group of Experts to the UNFCCC”
  • Strengthened networking and partnerships with international organizations (i.e. UNFCCC, IGES Japan, UNEP, etc.) and local organizations and institutions (youth, academe, NGOs, civil society, etc.) as well as private sector groups/institutions for environmental management
